How to Identify Pet Friendly Plants and Toxicity to Pets

One of the easiest methods I use to know if my current plants are safe for my pets is by using the PictureThis app. Using this app allows me to learn the scientific name of the plant and sometimes, it tells you if the plant is toxic or not.

The screenshot demonstrates the information on a Golden Pothos plant. Below “Key Facts“, it informs you if it’s toxic or not. In this case, when eaten all pothos variants are extremely toxic to pets.

While the PictureThis app is great, it will not always identify if the plant is toxic or not. If it doesn’t tell you, you can copy the scientific name and perform a quick Google search such as “Are Tongavines Toxic to Pets?”.

Using the scientific name by identifying it with the PictureThis app is a quick way to ensure if your plant at home or plants that you want to buy are poisonous to your cats and dogs.

Remember to always check if your plants are toxic to provide a safe environment for your furry friends!
